On October 13, 2010, Dan R. Morris, Twitter Strategist and Local Marketing Expert, joined us as our Guest Expert at the Website and Internet Security Telesummit – October 2010.
Daniel R. Morris is the also author of the book, “Twittr Glitch,” Your Guide on How to Solve Twitter Problems.
He gave an amazing presentation on the importance of Twitter Security Tips and shared his Twitter secrets and strategies.
One of his Twitter Security tips was aimed for WordPress users. Dan covered the importance of protecting your WordPress blog when integrating your Tweet Stream (Twitter Feed).
If you're displaying your Tweet Stream on your WordPress blog and your Twitter account gets hacked with Viagra ads or porn links, they will be displayed to your website visitors.
“Just because it's Twitter doesn't mean that problems that you have on Twitter are going to stay on Twitter.”
~ Daniel R. Morris
Here's a quick audio clip with Dan Morris about what can happen if your Twitter account gets hacked and you have your Twitter Feed on your WordPress blog:

Yes, having your Twitter feed displayed on your website is a great way to build your brand, improve communications with your website visitors and network. However, make sure you check your Twitter account often to make sure it's not hacked and feeding porn or spam links to your website visitors.

Thanks for the excellent write up. The internet is not made up of separate pieces and parts anymore. With Facebook “Like”buttons, automated feeds, status update connections and social bookmarking, one site can easily affect the viewers and customers on another.
WordPress widgets now enable site owners to feature streams like Twitter, EzineArticles and YouTube for their viewers to see. While maintaining the security of your WordPress site is critical, so is that of your other properties.
Here’s a quick article for you about how Twitter got hacked because a hacker got into Gmail. (http://lettersfromdan.com/2010/03/how-twitter-and-obama-got-hacked/)
It’s no longer a one horse town. Now you’ve got to manage the entire herd.

Hey Dan and Regina!
Thank you both very much for putting on a fabulous call last night, I learned a lot about Twitter and resources for keeping your Twitter account backed up, secure, and more. I also enjoyed listening to Dan Morris (@danrmorris) speak, he’s a very personable speaker and has a great sense of humor – he’s definitely a great addition to your list of people to follow.

Thanks Dan (@danrmorris) for another great class. I heard you speak at NAMS4 and you blew me away with all the info you had to share. I figured I had gotten everything I needed and then I heard you on the teleseminar last night…YOWZER! You really made my time profitable, you have a great teaching style and packed our time full of usable content, great links and got me cranked to run back and “fix up” my Twitter. Can’t wait for the next opportunity to sit in a learning session with you!
Thanks Regina for getting such an awesome teacher on the call last night! Can’t wait to hear the rest of the line up this month.

Dan, you have been most helpful for me to process issues I have been concerned with about Twitter for a long time. The questions you answered about Twitter problems has showed me to focus on what is important and also helpful to others.
Your encouragement to me is most valuable and I appreciate you taking the time to help me with getting to the bottom of what is important to me and dear and near to my heart.
Best,
Miriam
