How often do we make it easy for cyberintruders, whether internal or external, to hack into our businesses, websites or WordPress blogs? Are we not taking the protective measures to ensure security and safety on what we value the most or giving others a reason to believe we care about their security and safety as well?
Let’s review a report that came out on July 12, 2012, written by Brad Reed, that speaks loudly of the importance of having strong passwords:
“Security firm TrustedSec has found that more than 450,000 passwords have been exposed after a successful hack into Yahoo’s Voices website, the Guardian reports. Voices, formerly known as Associated Content before being purchased by Yahoo in 2010, is a news and analysis site that relies on user-generated content. The big problem with this particular hack, the Guardian says, is that “the passwords for the accounts were not encrypted — meaning that any hacker could scoop up the emails and immediately start using them against other services, including Yahoo Mail.”

Password Security: How to help keep hackers out!
These type of reports is exactly why we at WPSecurityLock want to make sure you understand the importance of using strong passwords. Every day, we see hackers taking advantage of people using weak passwords and using them to destroy their businesses, websites, and WordPress blogs and for that matter their reputation. The hackers can be an external as well as an internal intruder. The decision you make can either bring you peace of mind or turn your world upside down in just a matter of seconds.
Never use the same passwords twice. Every log-in should be unique. Use long and strong passwords, including a combination of upper and lower case letters, numbers, and symbols.
We strongly recommend you use a secure password management system. We use LastPass to securely manage our very strong passwords. They use strong encryption and are used by Fortune 500 companies and the US government. Another good one is *RoboForm, however you cannot share your passwords with other team members like you can with LastPass.

Glad I wasn’t a member of Yahoo Voices. I see some of the most hacked accounts are those of yahoo mail users. I wonder how many of my rarely used Yahoo accts have been hacked.
I definitely need to use Last Pass or some similar service, I know I can and should have better password management. Right now, money is what keeps me from being protected as well as I should be. I assume those services you mentioned aren’t free.
