In almost every area of the globe, at some point in the year, there will be a WordCamp. WordCamps are one to three day conferences that are dedicated to WordPress. They range in $20-$60 depending on how many days it lasts. They happen on the weekends all around the world. To see where the WordCamps are happening, please check WordCamp Central's schedule. If you do not see a Camp in your area, always check back. More WordCamps are being planned all the time. Also check with Meetup to see if there is a local WordPress Meetup in your area. If not, consider getting some people together and start one yourself.
What does security have to do with WordCamps?
At almost every WordCamp you will find at least one session dedicated to security. Many times there is a beginners and an advanced WordPress talk. The sessions range from best practices for your websites to how to manage a site once it has become infected. There are also sessions that deal with learning how to spot vulnerabilities and how to write safer code. Whether just a user or a developer, all levels walk away with something from attending a WordCamp.
What does WP Security Lock have to do with WordCamp?
WP Security Lock tries to give back to the WordPress Community when it can. Regina and many of the staff can be found answering questions on the WordPress forums. A few of the team are active in their local WordPress Meetups. Plus the entire team dedicates free time to the Safe WP group.
As a WP Security Lock WordPress Specialist and nationally known veteran WordCamp speaker, I have already spoken in San Antonio. And I will be in St. Louis March 14-15 and San Diego March 28-29. There will be more dates to come as speakers are announced. I will be presenting on beginners security at the St Louis WordCamp and advanced site cleaning in San Diego. If you will be near either of these areas come say hi to me!
One of the biggest advantages to WordPress is the community that helps make it great. Anyone at any level can give back to WordPress. Please consider helping in the WordPress.org forums, codex, community, or training.
Have you attended any WordCamps? Do you plan to attend any in the future?

I spoke at 7 last year and hoping to do 10 this year, including one outside of North America. I always encourage my students to go as well. Looking forward to the WordCamp Tour this year!

WOW that is great Shanta! Thanks for stopping by.
I have never been to a WordCamp. I always seem to miss the ones in Chicago for some reason or another. Hopefully I’ll make it one of these days.
